After School Art – Papier Mache Marionettes
September 13 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 3:30pm on Wednesday, repeating until September 27, 2017
Art and history come together again! Marionettes have a rich and vibrant history that surpass most other forms of puppetry. With roots in ancient Egypt, it is believed the first marionettes were created out of ivory, wire, wood or clay. All month students will work on making detailed papier mache marionettes.
Dates: Wednesdays September 6, 13, 20, 27, from 3:30 – 4:30pm
Teaching Artist: Elizabeth Howard
Cost: $40 Member / $50 Non-member + $3 materials
Bio: Elizabeth Howard born and raised in Oregon. My love for the arts was sparked at an early age from exploring my neighborhood and visiting school artists. I joined the Art program at Eastern Oregon University in 2000 and graduated in 2004. “I really enjoy sculpture for its ability to impact the viewer with its size, mass, material and manually manipulated properties. I love the process of making art; and feeling the energy and strength it takes to transform a material into a new shape is revitalizing.”
