Board of Directors Responsibilities

Fiduciary

  • Legal, fiscal, and ethical responsibility for ACE (board insurance provided)
  • Approve the annual budget and review financial statements bi-monthly
  • Approve Budget adjustments as needed throughout FY
  • Fundraising

  • 100% of Board Members maintain current membership
  • Collaborate with Staff on a yearly fundraising plan
  • Collaborate with staff to develop and maintain year-round sponsorships
  • In-kind and financial support for events and the Annual People’s Choice Award at The Big
  • Participation

  • Serve a two-year renewable term
  • Attend at least 75% bi-monthly board meetings
  • Participate on a committee or committees
  • Attend the annual board retreat
  • Represent the board at a minimum of six events annually
  • Public Relations

    • ACE ambassador in daily interactions
    • Take on optional monthly tasks presented at board meetings based on organizational need
    • Represent the board at governmental and community meetings

    Organization Leadership

  • Hire Executive Director
  • Set yearly realistic and measurable organizational goals
  • Support ED in accomplishing goals
  • Ongoing strategic planning
  • Review ACE activity in relation to the ACE mission
  • Board Leadership

  • Review ACE mission for relevancy, revise with staff as needed
  • Recruit and train new board members
  • Disclose any conflicts of interest
  • Maintain bylaws and policies
  • Review Board and Organizational policies and revise as needed
