In celebration of Art Center East's 45th Anniversary, ACE started an annual Aspiring Artist Contest, held March 1 - August 31, 2022.

Each year aspiring artists ages 11 - 22 will submit designs for an ACE iron-on patch. The winning design will become that year’s featured patch and the artist will receive an award.

The iron-on patch will be sold in the ACE Gift Gallery and online. All proceeds from the patches will go towards ACE’s Youth Scholarship Fund. This fund provides youth up to 18 years of age with reduced-cost (50% off) ACE classes and opportunities to engage in arts of all kinds (take-home art kits, music ensembles, etc.).

Art Center East passionately supports youth artists and believes that fostering a love of the arts helps give youth not only creative joy but also the confidence and skills to invest back into their communities in the future.

AGE REQUIREMENT: 11 - 22 years old

ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FROM: Baker, Gilliam, Grant, Harney, Malheur, Morrow, Wheeler, Umatilla, Union, and Wallowa County

WHEN: Submit your design to Art Center East between March 1 - August 31, 2022.

WINNERS ANNOUNCED: 5 pm on September 6th via email and social media.

DESIGN REQUIREMENTS:

- Size Requirement: 8.5in x 8.5in

- Base Image Requirement: Pinecone(s) of artists choosing

- Text Requirement: Must include the year “2022”, and “Art Center East”

ACCEPTED MEDIUMS: We can accept artwork is done in crayon, marker, pen & ink, acrylics, oil paint, oil pastel, watercolor, colored pencils, scratchboard, collage, chalk pastel, digital art, photography, charcoal, encaustic, or mixed media. HOW TO APPLY:

- IN-PERSON: Visit ACE at 1006 Penn Ave. La Grande, OR 97850 and drop off your submission. ACE is open Wednesday - Friday 12:00pm - 5:00pm and Saturday 10:00am - 2:00pm.
