Architecture of Internment Exhibit

Graham Street Productions Exhibit “Architecture of Internment,” presented by Art Center East, Union County Museum, Racial Justice of Eastern Oregon, Rural Organizing Project, and Oregon Rural Action. This traveling exhibit highlights the role of Oregonians in the decision to incarcerate Japanese American sand Japanese immigrants. 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry, two-thirds of them U.S. citizens, were incarcerated during World War II.
The exhibit kicks off with an opening reception on Friday, October 6 from 6 – 8 pm. Hosted by Racial Justice of Eastern Oregon, a community conversation around the topic of internment, “From Internment to Detention: The Narrative Legacy of Who Belongs in America” begins at 6:30 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
Join us to discuss the parallels of Japanese internment the forced removal and incarceration of Japanese Americans and immigrants during WWII- and the current immigration landscape. This is an opportunity to get involved locally to create a response to ensure that all in our community are welcome and included.

Registration cancellations & transfers must be made through Art Center East at (541) 624-2800 48 hours or more before the class start time. We cannot issue refunds or transfers for cancellations received after the 48-hour cutoff. Exceptions will be considered for medical or family emergencies. ACE will honor a refund, minus a $10 administration fee when the cancellation is made 48 hours or more before class start date. When a class is canceled due to low enrollment, we will issue a refund for all registration fees. ACE will contact you in the event of a cancellation.
