Everyone’s invited to Carols & Cocoa! This popular annual community caroling event – started by Jamie Jacobson more than a decade ago and hosted by ACE for the last several years – is free and open to all ages. No singing experience is necessary. We’ll gather at ACE and then head out together on foot to carol around La Grande. Bring along some friends and/or family, and be sure to dress appropriately for the weather. Jamie recommends bringing a flashlight or headlamp so you can read the lyrics and music more easily. We’ll return to ACE after caroling to warm up with hot cocoa and cookies! Sheet music is provided. RSVP by registering for FREE below! Please enter through the Penn Avenue door.
Teaching Artists: Shahayla Ononaiye and Jamie Jacobson
Cost: FREE
Location: Art Center East
Shahayla Ononaiye, a La Grande-based performer and educator, has established herself as a multifaceted performer across genres such as opera, musical theater, art song, pop, and rock. Sharing her knowledge of and passion for singing continues to be a great source of joy in her adult life. Currently, Shahayla is cherishing her role as a full-time parent. She is looking forward to offering lessons from her new vocal studio.
Jamie Jacobson has spent more than 20 years helping people find their voices both literally and figuratively. A longtime vocal instructor, she taught students of all ages through her private studio and at Eastern Oregon University, and she led community music projects such as Beer Choir, Collective Keys: Painted Piano Project, and local singing circles. Jamie now brings her passion for authentic expression and connection to her work as a professional counselor in private practice (with Candace Walters and Associates) where she continues to support others in discovering their inner strength and voice.
