Closing Reception for “Start the Story at the End” by Josh Raftery

The public is invited to attend a free closing reception for the exhibit on Friday, October 25, from 6-8 p.m.
“Start the Story at the End” is by Josh Raftery, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, who delves into the complex relationships between loss, memory, religion, and science. Influenced by his personal experiences with loss and bereavement, he creates narratives of dystopia and uncertainty through mixed media, found objects, photography, and storytelling. His current project, initiated in 2020, utilizes antiquated photographic processes, such as cyanotype (known as the “disappearing print”) to emphasize the passage of time, the fleeting nature of memory, and the way memories fade and distance themselves from objective truth.
Raffle tickets for an original artwork by Raftery will be available for purchase in person and online at artcentereast.org, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6. Proceeds from the raffle support the ACE Gallery Program. The raffle winner will be drawn after October 26.

Registration cancellations & transfers must be made through Art Center East at (541) 624-2800 48 hours or more before the class start time. We cannot issue refunds or transfers for cancellations received after the 48-hour cutoff. Exceptions will be considered for medical or family emergencies. ACE will honor a refund, minus a $10 administration fee when the cancellation is made 48 hours or more before class start date. When a class is canceled due to low enrollment, we will issue a refund for all registration fees. ACE will contact you in the event of a cancellation. Face coverings will be required in accordance with statewide regulations current at the time.
