“Cloud Cover” by Terri J. Rice

Art Center East (ACE) announces the opening of “Cloud Cover,” a solo exhibition of oil paintings by Washington State-based artist Terri J. Rice. Community members of all ages are invited to attend a free opening reception on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, from 6–8 p.m. in ACE’s Main Gallery. The exhibit will be on display Sept. 5 through Oct. 25.
The “Cloud Cover” exhibit consists of paintings that depict the ever-changing interaction between the sun and clouds, creating light and shadow that mesmerize. Rice draws inspiration from many places in nature and in particular from pictures she has taken during car rides, the view outside her studio window that overlooks the Columbia River, and her own scenic daydreams.
Rice paints landscapes and skyscapes with enough realism to give a sense of place while leaving room for viewer interpretation. She says, “Perhaps it reminds you of a favorite place or memory of a place that means a lot to you.” Each of Rice’s paintings is unique; she creates originals only and does not produce prints or reproductions.
Raffle tickets for an original painting by Rice will be available for purchase in person at ACE and online at artcentereast.org beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5. Proceeds from the raffle support the ACE Gallery Program. The winning raffle ticket will be drawn after Nov. 1.

Registration cancellations & transfers must be made through Art Center East at (541) 624-2800 48 hours or more before the class start time. We cannot issue refunds or transfers for cancellations received after the 48-hour cutoff. Exceptions will be considered for medical or family emergencies. ACE will honor a refund, minus a $10 administration fee when the cancellation is made 48 hours or more before class start date. When a class is canceled due to low enrollment, we will issue a refund for all registration fees. ACE will contact you in the event of a cancellation. Face coverings will be required in accordance with statewide regulations current at the time.
