Embracing Imperfection: Abstract Watercolor and Mixed Media (Age 18+)

April 19 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm

Create loose, expressive abstract art by making a joyful mess in “Embracing Imperfection”! Starting with watercolor basics and a few fun texturing techniques, you’ll learn how to let the paint itself set the initial stage and how to use various media to find and bring out the interesting, and often surprising, shapes and forms found within those textures. Teaching Artist Stabros will also share some optional neurographic and zentangle elements. Giving up the expectation that a painting has to “look like something” and learning to let the painting itself tell you what it wants is a fun, relaxing way to bring a freshness to your art! At the end of this class, you’ll leave with two abstract paintings straight from the depths of your brain. All supplies are included, but you may bring your own if you wish. Stabros Cru’ktfinger is an abstract, multi-media painter with a strong love for watercolors, ink, and acrylics. He is drawn to bold colors, organic and geometric shapes, and anything that smacks of space or the weird. A lifelong collector of arts, crafts, and other hobbies, painting is his one true love. He is exceedingly proud of and thrilled about the Honorable Mention he received at Art Center East’s 2024 “The Big” exhibition.
