English Country Dance Intensive
January 31 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 6:30pm on Wednesday, repeating until March 21, 2018
With roots in the Elizabethan era, this historic social dance form is a true living tradition and its calligraphy-like figures continue to enthrall dancers today. Ranging from graceful and flowing to vigorously energetic, English Country Dance is easy to learn and gentle on the body. Join Traditional-Live! for a ten week English Country Dance intensive that culminates in a Grand Ball finale on Saturday, March 24, where you can strut your stuff as the Lords and Ladies of Northeast Oregon! Get exercise, meet new people, and party like it’s 1599. No dance partner required.
Dates: January 17, 24, 31
February 7, 14, 21, 28
March 7, 14, 21 + Grand Ball on March 24
Teaching Artist: Mark Lewis
Bio: Mark Lewis has over 40 years of experience with numerous styles of folk dancing, including leading regular dancing sessions in La Grande since 1999. English Country Dance is his current passion, and he seeks to create opportunities for enjoyment and connection to this apparently archaic art form.

(Includes all sessions & Ball)
