Dance away the winter blues! Ranging from graceful and flowing to vigorously energetic, English country dance is easy to learn and easy on the body. Popular for nearly 300 years in England, its colonies, and throughout Eu- rope, this widely varied dance form originated in peasant folk dances then became popular among royalty and the emerging middle class before disappearing almost entirely. Be a part of its modern revival while incorporating gentle movement into your weekly routine and making new friends! Weekly sessions provide plenty of preparation for the Grand Ball in March – a private celebration of dance for local and visiting dancers – not a public performance. Please note that not all sessions meet on Wednesdays. Enter through the Penn Avenue door.
