Intro to Poetry (Age 12+)

Try your hand at reading and writing poetry! This interactive workshop is designed for writers of all backgrounds. Students will explore poetry through written text, spoken word and collaborative workshop. Reading and writing poetry can serve as a creative outlet, therapeutic activity, and/or literary art. You will explore poetic texts from a craft-based perspective and draft your own poems using guided prompts. The workshop provides concrete tools for a generative, integrated poetic reading and writing practice. All supplies included. Please enter through the 5th Street door.

 

Teaching Artist: Jessica Holmes

Jessica Holmes has been a teacher for nine years, mainly at the university level, and has taught classes in creative writing, literature, and the humanities. She has been studying astrology for five years and began offering private natal chart readings three years ago.

Registration cancellations & transfers must be made through Art Center East at (541) 624-2800 48 hours or more before the class start time. We cannot issue refunds or transfers for cancellations received after the 48-hour cutoff. Exceptions will be considered for medical or family emergencies. ACE will honor a refund, minus a $10 administration fee when the cancellation is made 48 hours or more before class start date. When a class is canceled due to low enrollment, we will issue a refund for all registration fees. ACE will contact you in the event of a cancellation. Face coverings will be required in accordance with statewide regulations current at the time.
