January 9, 16, 23, & 30 and February 6 from 4:00 – 5:00 pm

In this five-session “Comic Book Creation 4 Teens” workshop, you’ll dive into the world of comics and create your own! You’ll begin by brainstorming characters and stories, then learn how to script and plan your pages. With Teaching Artist Sarah guiding you through the techniques, you’ll learn drawing, inking, and lettering to make your comic pop, and even add cool details like backgrounds. By the end, you’ll polish your comic and present it to the class. Sarah will also give you tips on digital editing so you can take your comic to the next level. Don’t miss this fun opportunity to bring your ideas to life and share them with others! All supplies included. Please enter through the 5th Street door.

Teaching Artist: Sarah Marcotte

Cost: Free

Location: Art Center East

Sarah Marcotte has been a lifelong consumer of cartoons, comics, and films. She studied psychology and multimedia design, and her first job after college was as a videographer for a custom homes show; there she learned the ins and outs of visual storytelling through drafting storyboards and operating a glide cam. Sarah then started creating comics. Her first works were published in 2016. She then branched out by writing a graphic novel series and producing a faux podcast and audio drama. Sarah is passionate about building an army of fellow storytellers who will go out into the world and launch their original creations on the waiting public.
