About the Threadbenders Guild: In the 1970s, a small group of weavers and spinners from Baker County began meeting monthly in each other’s homes to share their experiences with and their love of fiber crafts. Other artisans from Union County soon joined them and, from these gatherings, the Threadbenders Guild was formed. Today, Threadbenders is a vibrant guild with approximately 25 members from Baker and Union Counties. Members continue to meet monthly to conduct business, share current projects, and engage in learning activities, which are frequently hands-on. Over the years, Threadbenders has received numerous grants to support educational programs, including multi-day workshops, for members and guests; has held exhibitions at local art centers; and has participated in other community activities that promote and demonstrate weaving and fiber arts. The Guild has some equipment available for loan and maintains a library of books, DVDs, and magazines that are available for members to check-out. Threadbenders is affiliated with Weaving Guilds of Oregon, the Association of Northwest Weavers Guilds, and Handweavers Guild of America. The purpose of the Threadbenders Guild is to contribute to the enjoyment and appreciation of fiber arts, primarily handweaving.

Specifically, the Guild exists to:
1. Aid and encourage current and prospective members in the general art and craft of handweaving and other fiber arts as a technical and creative endeavor, and
2. Stimulate and courage public interest in handweaving and other related activities, including spinning, dyeing, and felting
