July 8 – September 3, 2022
Free Admission
Art Center East (ACE) invites community members to view Tideline to Alpine, an exhibit showcasing the work of Wallowa County artist Nicole Freshley, in ACE’s Main Gallery. The public is also invited to a free opening reception on Friday, July 8, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and an artist talk by Freshley at 6:30 pm. Raffle tickets for Freshley’s artwork will be available for purchase, in person and online, beginning at the opening reception. Tideline to Alpine is on display July 8 – September 3, 2022.
Freshley, who specializes in plein air (outdoor) painting, says, “Where I live affects my work profoundly.” Tideline to Alpine encompasses new original watercolor and gouache paintings inspired by the tidal flats of Willapa Bay, Washington, the fertile Wallowa Valley in Northeast Oregon, and the peaks and tarns of the Wallowa Mountains.
“A day painting in the mountains is my favorite kind of day. I find inspiration in light, movement, bold lines, color combinations, and scenery pastoral, rural, or wild. The inspiration is endless and there would never be enough time to paint everything I want to,” Freshley comments.
A closing reception for Tideline to Alpine will take place Friday, September 2, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. All are welcome at this free event. Raffle tickets will be available through the exhibit’s closing reception and proceeds benefit the ACE Gallery Program. The raffle winner will be announced Saturday, September 3.
