Wapus Root Bag Weaving (Age 12+)

Discover how to create a beautiful Wapus (a traditional root gathering bag/basket)! Learn basic twining techniques from Teaching Artist Kelli and, working with cotton twine and yarn, create your own small Wapus. All supplies included. Please enter through the Penn Avenue door.
Teaching Artist: Kelli Palmer
Cost: $25 Member / $30 Non-Member
Kelli Palmer is an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation of Oregon. She has made baskets for about 22 years and still asks questions of her mother, reads books, and researches on the internet to learn more. Making these baskets just feels right to her and she continues to learn as she explores new methods and opportunities.

Registration cancellations & transfers must be made through Art Center East at (541) 624-2800 48 hours or more before the class start time. We cannot issue refunds or transfers for cancellations received after the 48-hour cutoff. Exceptions will be considered for medical or family emergencies. ACE will honor a refund, minus a $10 administration fee when the cancellation is made 48 hours or more before class start date. When a class is canceled due to low enrollment, we will issue a refund for all registration fees. ACE will contact you in the event of a cancellation. Face coverings will be required in accordance with statewide regulations current at the time.
