Watercolor Workshop: The Sunflower Patch

In this step-by-step painting class, we will create a spring scene with bright yellow sunflowers (Jan’s favorite). In the middle of the patch is a red, white & blue birdhouse. Students of all experience levels are welcome. See the required supply list below. Please enter through the 5th Street door.

Artist Bio: I have been teaching and painting in watercolors for many years. I love sharing all I have learned with my students. This class will be taught in a step-by-step method so that anyone can join in. 

 

Supply List

WATERCOLORS – Winsor & Newton brand – Winsor Yellow, Neutral Tint. Grumbacher Brand – Gamboge Hue, Cobalt Blue, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Ultramarine Blue, Alizarin Crimson.

BRUSHES – 1 ½” flat, No. 8 round, No.12 round, Long Liner (mine is # 6), old toothbrush to splatter.

MISC. – ¼ sheet of Arches 140# cold press watercolor paper (11 X 15), support board at least 13 X 17, ruler, any masking and an old tiny brush for the stars, bar of soap, a rubber cement pick-up to remove it, General’s white charcoal pencil, Salt (I like Kosher best), Scraps of paper to practice on, palette, scissors, masking tape, paper towels, old hand towel, water container, spray bottle, homemade black transfer paper, red pen for tracing, pencil and white eraser.

 

Safety Guidelines

This offering is an in-person class. ACE is following government guidelines on COVID-19 safety and cleaning procedures. Still, students are expected to research, assess, and understand their own risk level before choosing to work in an indoor space.

A plexiglass divider separates each personal workspace at the ACE studios. We also feature a demonstration mirror for students and Teaching Artists ease.

Students are required to do the following.

– Wear a mask that covers both nose and mouth at all times

– Wash hands for at least 20 seconds upon arrival, and again any time you touch your mouth, nose, or eyes.

Registration cancellations & transfers must be made through Art Center East at (541) 624-2800 48 hours or more before the class start time. We cannot issue refunds or transfers for cancellations received after the 48-hour cutoff. Exceptions will be considered for medical or family emergencies. ACE will honor a refund, minus a $10 administration fee when the cancellation is made 48 hours or more before class start date. When a class is canceled due to low enrollment, we will issue a refund for all registration fees. ACE will contact you in the event of a cancellation. Face coverings will be required in accordance with statewide regulations current at the time.
