Winged Wonders: Bird Feeders + Eggs (Ages 5-12) FREE

May 17 from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

We’re celebrating the annual Ladd Marsh Bird Festival that takes place this weekend by offering two fun, bird-related classes! “Winged Wonders” is a great class for kids to explore their creativity, curiosity, and imagination – no art or craft experience is necessary. With the guidance of ACE’s After School Art Program Teaching Artist, Sam Choate, each student will paint a beautiful egg inspired by their favorite bird’s eggs or their imaginations. Participants will then move on to two bird feeders designed in fun and playful shapes. At the end of class, kids will take their feeders home, hang them outside, and hopefully see birds stop by for a treat! All supplies included. Please enter through the Penn Avenue door.

Teaching Artist: Sam Choate
Cost: Free
Location: Art Center East

Samantha Adams Choate grew up in Eastern Oregon and found a passion for teaching art at Painted Sky Center for the Arts in John Day, Oregon, in the Center’s after school program. She enjoys teaching youth about the importance of art, giving them tools and skills to use various forms of art as outlets for expression. Sam believes art fosters a creative and expressive mindset that encourages self-discovery, confidence, and self-worth. She is an advocate for youth opportunities in the arts as schools continue to encounter budgetary constraints that affect specialty classes. She provides students a safe place to make art and explore their creative skills.

Parents/guardians of youth age 17 or younger: if you haven’t already done so, CLICK HERE to fill out a Youth Release Form in order for your child to participate in ACE youth classes.
