You’re Up! – Improvisation (Ages 14-18)

Build your improvisational skills! Learn key points for a good theatrical performance, how to keep an improvised scene moving forward, and how to keep the audience engaged. Explore a variety of theatre activities, exercises, and games that get your brain and body thinking and moving quickly. Participants need to wear comfortable, but not baggy, clothing they can move in (such as sweatpants, tennis shoes or split sole jazz shoes, and a t-shirt). No skirts or dresses unless leggings are worn underneath. No sandals.
Teaching Artist: Rikki Jo Hickey
Rikki Jo Hickey is a theatre artist who has taught theatrical classes, workshops, and summer camps to people of all ages for more than 20 years. She is the owner/instructor at mNemosyne Studios (theatrical and performing arts classes) in La Grande. Rikki holds an MFA in Theatre Direction from University of Hawai’i at Manoa and has studied theatre since she was five years old. She is excited to be partnering with Art Center East to help foster the performing arts in Eastern Oregon.

Be sure to fill out a Youth Release Form & RSVP for ONLY your children below! Please be sure to add each child’s name that will be attending.
Parents/guardians of youth age 17 or younger: if you haven’t already done so, CLICK HERE to fill out a Youth Release Form in order for your child to participate in ACE youth classes.
There are limited spots available for this class! If you RSVP and later find you’re unable to attend, please email ACE Youth Coordinator at [email protected] to cancel your RSVP. This helps ACE open up spots for other interested students. Thank you!

Registration cancellations & transfers must be made through Art Center East at (541) 624-2800 48 hours or more before the class start time. We cannot issue refunds or transfers for cancellations received after the 48-hour cutoff. Exceptions will be considered for medical or family emergencies. ACE will honor a refund, minus a $10 administration fee when the cancellation is made 48 hours or more before class start date. When a class is canceled due to low enrollment, we will issue a refund for all registration fees. ACE will contact you in the event of a cancellation. Face coverings will be required in accordance with statewide regulations current at the time.
