Lush Canvas: an Evening with Edvard Munch (Age 21+)

Learn to paint in the Expressionist style of Norwegian artist Edvard Munch – no painting experience necessary! In this fun class, Teaching Artist Tess will show you a variety of techniques and she’ll guide you every step of the way as you paint Munch’s “New Snow in the Avenue” (1906). Bring a favorite beer or wine, if you’d like ACE provides a non-alcoholic beverage – and enjoy complimentary snacks, meet new people, and explore acrylic painting in a fun, no-pressure environment. At the end of the evening, you’ll take your amazing painting home. All supplies included. Please enter through the 5th Street door.

Tess Cahill

Tess Cahill holds a bachelor’s degree in art from Eastern Oregon University (EOU). She was born and raised in La Grande, and has had a fondness for crafting since her mother taught her to draw as a child. Tess particularly loves painting and printmaking, and artists from whom she draws particular inspiration include Caroline Walker, Heinrich Kley, and Lois van Baarle. In the last year, Tess exhibited her work in “Liminal”, the 2024 capstone exhibition at EOU’s Nightingale Gallery, and at Cook Memorial Library in La Grande. In her free time, she loves spending time with friends, going on walks, and playing with her cats. She aspires to travel abroad and work in animation or illustration.
