Teaching Artist

Lia Spiegel

Lia Spiegel initially learned to sew from her mother, and then made a quilt in a middle school home economics class and a three-piece suit while she was in high school. Lia worked for a seamstress for a few years, and she has continued to sew clothing for herself and for family members. She developed teaching skills during her 30-year career teaching forest insect management to natural resource managers. Lia has also taught high schoolers and middle schoolers about forest insects in outdoor schools.
