“Emily Moon” by Meredith Matthews, 2021
The screen print Emily Moon is a celebration of the Grande Ronde Valley created by Meredith Matthews. Meredith, a lifelong resident of the valley, has always been intensely interested in the landscape around her and has spent much of her life exploring it either with a pair of hiking boots or with a set of binoculars. Meredith graduated from Eastern Oregon University in 2020 with a degree in art and minors in biology, history, and theater and is currently pursuing an MA in Film from Queen’s University, Belfast, and working toward completing her first short film Blood and Memory.
This membership print is one in an edition of sixty and was printed on Arches 88 SilkScreen paper using Speedball inks. It was produced in the studio on campus by EOU art major Sophia Aimone with assistance from Susan Murrell, Associate Professor of Art to benefit Art Center East. It is part of an ongoing partnership between the art department at EOU and ACE – two organizations dedicated to building community through education in the arts.
