Kimberly shares, “My husband and I visited France and England specifically to see the Bayeux Tapestry and The Lady and the Unicorn tapestries. I am fascinated with historical fiber arts and was thrilled to find this pattern by Sarah Kelly that was inspired by the Unicorn Tapestry.

Unicorn Grove Mittens – “The Lady and the Unicorn” tapestries are a set of 6 tapestries from the 1500’s in Paris, France. Five of the tapestries depict the 5 senses with the last one obscurely named and interpreted as “Love desires only beauty of soul”. Scholars generally believe they are a meditation on earthly pleasures offered through an allegory of the senses.
