LA GRANDE — Art Center East, 1006 Penn Ave., has a full calendar of art, learning and music, with something for everyone. Executive director Darcy Dolge welcomes all to look over the classes offered this spring and join in the fun.

Wild Preschool (ages 5 and younger)
Offered twice a month this spring. This free outdoor class at Pete’s Pond helps kids connect with nature and friends, engage in hands-on earth science projects and create nature-based art. Teaching artist is Meghan Ballard.
Grande Ronde Community Choir (age 14+)
Thursdays, 7-8:30 p.m.
Mixed voice choral ensemble practices weekly at Loso Hall on the EOU campus. No auditions are necessary. Performances are held throughout the year. Cost is $50 members/$60 nonmembers per term.
Glass Paperweight Group Workshop (ages 8+)
March 27, 11 a.m.-1:20 p.m. or 1:40-4 p.m.
Make colorful, handcrafted glass paperweights and experience sculpting with hot glass in this introductory glassblowing workshop. At Birddog Glass Studio, 702 Adams Ave., in La Grande. $50 per person.
Beginning Beaded Jewelry Class (ages 14+)
March 29, 5:15-7:15 p.m.
Learn how to design and string a beautiful beaded necklace or bracelet with expert guidance and tips. No experience necessary. All supplies included. Teaching artist is Sharry Sherman. Cost: $30 members/$40 nonmembers.
Community African Drumming (ages 12+)
Tuesdays, March 29-May 31, 6-6:50 p.m.
Meets on the EOU campus, Loso Hall Room 123. All community members ages 12 and older are welcome to join, and no previous drumming experience is required. Drums (djembes) are provided. The group’s founder, EOU music professor emeritus John McKinnon, will be guest instructor this term. Cost is $45 members/$55 nonmembers.
Fused Glass: Wall Vases (ages 15+)
March 30, 6-9 p.m. and April 1, 6:30-7 p.m.
In this two-day class, students will learn to design, cut and fuse glass to make their own hanging wall vase. Cost $50 members/ $60 nonmembers.
Opening Receptions: Annual EOU Junior Exhibition and Discover After School Educational Exhibit
April 1, 6-8 p.m.
The Junior Exhibition showcases artwork by Eastern Oregon University junior art majors and minors. The Discover After School exhibit will display examples of youth art projects, interactive items for visitors, infographic posters, and much more. Receptions and exhibits are free.
Opening Reception: New Works by Trevor and Jennifer Durr
May 6, 6-8 p.m.
Trevor hand throws a variety of stoneware and porcelain ceramics. Jennifer, a painter, explores expressionism, often using mixed media. Receptions and exhibits are free.
