Character Boot Camp

This 2-day workshop will focus on the interior and exterior lives of fiction characters in order to make them more dimensional and alive in your stories. The process will examine character in relation to setting, scene, and conflict as well as defining who your characters are in terms of their lives before the story. We’ll complete exercises, write from prompts, and share feedback. Bring writing materials and any works-in-progress to class. Please enter through the 5th Street door.

Artist Bio: Suzy Jardaneh earned her MFA at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and writes fiction. She is a former Associate Lecturer at the University of Central Florida where she taught creative writing and Interdisciplinary Studies. She has had stories published in The Greensboro Review, Fugue, The Southern Review, Confrontation, and she has recently won the Driftwood Magazine short story contest with a story that was revised with the help of the Grande Ronde Writers.

Registration cancellations & transfers must be made through Art Center East at (541) 624-2800 48 hours or more before the class start time. We cannot issue refunds or transfers for cancellations received after the 48-hour cutoff. Exceptions will be considered for medical or family emergencies. ACE will honor a refund, minus a $10 administration fee when the cancellation is made 48 hours or more before class start date. When a class is canceled due to low enrollment, we will issue a refund for all registration fees. ACE will contact you in the event of a cancellation. Face coverings will be required in accordance with statewide regulations current at the time.
