Pinecones Book Club (Age 6-8)

January 20 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

FREE

January 20 from 10:00 – 11:00 am

Join Meghan for story time, followed by hands-on tinkering and learning activities. Students will participate in a picture book read-aloud and then have time to explore the book’s theme with hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) activities. Children learn best through hands-on exploration and play, and this in conjunction with literacy is a fantastic way to “spark” their interest in real-world concepts and learning. Students will leave with new friends, sparked curiosity and joy, and a deeper excitement for reading and learning. Parents or guardians are welcome, but not required, to stay with their child for the duration of the class. All supplies included. Please enter through the Penn Avenue door.

Teaching Artist: Meghan Ballard

Meghan Ballard holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from Portland State University and has done graduate level coursework in Environmental Education. She has more than ten years of experience in environmental education engaging K-12 science classes in stream and wetland restoration projects. She is currently a freelance environmental educator, a Cub Scouts Den Leader, a board member of the Blue Mountains Conservancy, and a mother of two.
