Join this class for a memorable, positive day of improving your painting skills and enjoying watercolors even more than you already do! Teaching Artist Paul will have still life materials on hand for you to paint from but feel free to bring your own material, photograph, or painting project. Painting presentations and group discussion will allow beginning and advanced students alike to enjoy this workshop. You’ll receive professional help with your project. Teaching Artist: Paul Hoelscher
Paul Hoelscher is a native Minnesotan who has lived in Baker City since 2002. He is a full-time artist and art instructor who paints with watercolors, acrylics, pastels, and oils, and draws with dry media and ink. He has taught K-12 students in Eastern Oregon for many years as a Teaching Artist in ACE’s Artists in Rural Schools Program. Paul’s finished paintings and drawings are intended to be quiet reminders for everyone of how wonderful life really is when we take a moment to notice.

Supplies:
Soft-bristle brushes, synthetic or natural: something that can be pointed for details and something big for larger areas
Watercolor paints in tubes or pans: at least the primary colors and a dark brown. We can mix almost any other colors.
Watercolor paper: any type of watercolor paper or surface that you are interested in painting on
Palette or large white dinner-plates surface
Paper towels
Masking tape
References: if you have any special subject that you would like to make a painting of, please bring some reference material (photocopies, books, still-life objects, portrait models, etc.)
Personal favorite tools or materials (masking fluid, etc.)

Registration cancellations & transfers must be made through Art Center East at (541) 624-2800 48 hours or more before the class start time. We cannot issue refunds or transfers for cancellations received after the 48-hour cutoff. Exceptions will be considered for medical or family emergencies. ACE will honor a refund, minus a $10 administration fee when the cancellation is made 48 hours or more before class start date. When a class is canceled due to low enrollment, we will issue a refund for all registration fees. ACE will contact you in the event of a cancellation. Face coverings will be required in accordance with statewide regulations current at the time.
