Get your batik on in this fun one-day workshop! We’ll create batik paintings using watercolor or acrylic paint, wax, and ink on a special type of paper. You’ll get step-by-step instructions for this unique kind of artwork. See supply list below. Please enter through the 5th Street door.

Cost: $70 Member / $85 Non-Member
Teaching Artist Bios: Jan Clark and Denise Elizabeth Stone both are members of the Batik Convergence. Both Jan and Denise are multiple media specialists including experts at Batik Watercolors.
The Teaching Artists are supplying all of the special supplies such as traditional Asian papers, a special mix of wax, ink, tjantings, gloves, wax brushes, irons, and ink brushes. Please bring as much of the following as possible. We will bring some supplies to share with those who don’t have them.
Paints – Please bring what you have. Inexpensive sets are available at La Grande Paint & Glass. You may use watercolors or acrylics.
Brushes – Bring what you have.
Things from Home – Paper towels, palette, old hand towel, support board (about 16 X 20 and can be heavier cardboard, 10 to 15 sheets of newspaper if you have it, water container, pencil & eraser, spray bottle, photos or magazine for inspiration – simple photos are the best.
This offering is an in-person class. ACE is following government guidelines on COVID-19 safety and cleaning procedures. Still, students are expected to research, assess, and understand their own risk level before choosing to work in an indoor space.
A plexiglass divider separates each personal workspace at the ACE studios. We also feature a demonstration mirror for students and Teaching Artists ease.
Students are required to do the following.
– Wear a mask that covers both nose and mouth at all times
– Wash hands for at least 20 seconds upon arrival, and again any time you touch your mouth, nose, or eyes.

Registration cancellations & transfers must be made through Art Center East at (541) 624-2800 48 hours or more before the class start time. We cannot issue refunds or transfers for cancellations received after the 48-hour cutoff. Exceptions will be considered for medical or family emergencies. ACE will honor a refund, minus a $10 administration fee when the cancellation is made 48 hours or more before class start date. When a class is canceled due to low enrollment, we will issue a refund for all registration fees. ACE will contact you in the event of a cancellation. Face coverings will be required in accordance with statewide regulations current at the time.
