The Big: ACE’s Annual Open Exhibit

December 4, 2020 - January 30, 2021

Scroll down to watch the virtual opening reception.

The Big is Art Center East’s annual open exhibit, a showcase of the talent hidden in our backyard. The Big invites artists from Eastern Oregon & the greater Northwest to share their work while creating awareness of the value of the arts in our community and raising funds for community arts programming at ACE. The 2020 Annual Open exhibit will run from December 4th, 2020 – January 30th, 2021.

The exhibit will be viewable in person during our business hours starting December 4, and online on this webpage, with an interactive virtual tour of the gallery provided by John J Howard Realty, and individual images of each piece that will allow you to take a closer look and purchase art that is for sale.

2020 Artist Judge

Steve Feldman www.stevefeldman.com

Artist Statement – Using one or some combination of acrylics, watercolors, digital and narrative media, I create thought provoking experiences that often contain a humorous twist, or an edge with deeper underlying implications. Frequently my work contains meticulously crafted imagery that seductively draws the viewer in with elements that can be, upon further inspection, simultaneously disturbing or repellent.

Biography – Steve Feldman works as a freelance illustrator and artist from his studio /home overlooking the old Oregon Trail in scenic northeast Oregon. Working both traditionally with acrylics and watercolors and digitally with a drawing tablet and Adobe design software, he creates thought provoking images that often contain a humorous twist or an edge. Some of the well known clients Steve has worked with include The New York Times, Random House, St. Martin’s Press, Scholastic, Delacorte Press, Wright Group/McGraw Hill, Time Inc., Six Red Marbles, Mondo Publishing, Heinemann, Merck, Pfizer, Cleveland Clinic, Virgin, Chiquita and the Discovery Channel. Steve is a PAL (Published & Listed) member of the SCBWI Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators. Steve is also an avid outdoor enthusiast, enjoying the many activities available in his area such as hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, backcountry skiing and gardening, as well as involvement in various community activities.
