Watercolor Workshop: The Geese

We will paint a close-up of two majestic wild geese – a composition based on geese that once perched right outside the instructor’s window! This class will focus on depicting different types of feathers and creating eye-catching contrast in watercolor. The class is taught in a step-by-step method and is open to all experience levels. Artist Bio: I started painting in watercolor in the 1980’s and have been teaching watercolor for years now. I really love watercolor and the ways it can be manipulated. It is full of many surprises.

Required Supplies:

WATERCOLORS – Winsor & Newton Brand: Neutral Tint, Winsor Blue. Grumbacher Brand: Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Ultramarine Blue, Violet Thalo Purple.

BRUSHES – 1 ½” flat, No. 8 round, No. 12 round (optional), 1” chip brush cut raggedy.

MISC. – ¼ sheet of Arches Cold Press Watercolor Paper (11” X 15”), support board, White Charcoal Pencil – sharp, any Masking fluid and old brush and old liner to apply it, a metal painting knife, Palette, paper towels, old cloth hand towel, masking tape, scissors, watercolor paper to play on, colored red pen to trace, spray bottle, Pencil & white eraser. Optional – snacks, drinks, apron.

NOTE – We will break for lunch from noon to 1:00. You may bring your lunch or go out to eat. Please arrive in the classroom 15 minutes early to set up your work station. Be sure and dress in layers.
